During the last ICANN meeting in Mexico City, ICANN identified four overarching issues with respect to the new introduction of new global top-level domains (gTLDs). One of the issues identified was the economic impact of new gTLDs.
The meeting also marked the release of two economic studies commissioned by ICANN. Neither study adequately addressed the true state of the economic impact of new gTLDs nor did the studies reflect the realities faced by brandholders.
As a result, MarkMonitor worked with AT&T and their economists to formulate comments and criticism of the economic studies.
